HARLEM, NEW YORK (September 24, 2012)—On Saturday October 20th, one of the biggest nights in New York Boxing will take place as the brand new, state of the art Barclays Center will play host to four world championship fights that is likely to prelude of big events coming to the new arena.

One of the proposed undercard bout was to have it former world title challenger Dmitry Salita (34-1-1, 18 KO’s) of Brooklyn and Edgar Santana (26-4, 17 KO’s) of Harlem in what would have been a throw- back fight that would have brought back memories of the neighborhood fights that helped make New York the mecca of boxing.

But after the fight was allegedly agreed upon, Salita apparently pulled out of the bout and Santana believes that Salita never had any intention of fighting hm.

“I got the call to fight him and I accepted immediately”, said Santana

“ I was excited to get that fight and it was a good fight for New York in the new arena. We are both big ticket sellers and it is definitely the right fight”

Santana, who is managed by Brian Cohen and promoted by Dave Escalet’s Fisticuffs Promotions then found out that the fight would not come to fruition.

“We found out that Salita did not want the fight. Regardless of what he says, he is scared to fight me”, continued Santana

“I read on the internet he said he did not want to fight me because I am coming off a loss. I fought that fight with a broken hand, but lets face the facts, I have knocked out three guys that he not only went the distance with but he had trouble with”
