Xtreme Fight Events returned with Cage Wars XX, a pro/am card, emanating from the Harrah’s Casino in Chester, Pennsylvania. Cage Wars has quickly solidified itself in Pennsylvania as a top-tier MMA event by providing fans with nonstop, full throttle fighting from start to finish. Cage Wars XX continued this string of amazing fights.

In the main event, in the pro ranks, Bryan Danner (3-2) defeated Darius Yancy (2-3) via unanimous decision after a brawl in a lightweight scrap. It was a great fight as both gladiators came to win with Yancy landing solid shots including a variety of elbows while Danner was able to neutralize much of Yancy’s striking with solid wrestling in the clinch and also landing takedowns that stymied Yancy’s offence. Danner kept up a frenetic pace with his wrestling and once he got Yancy down he controlled him on the mat. All in all it was a very close fight, but Danner’s wrestling ability, control and top position on the mat gave him the nod and the well-deserved win.

In the co-main event, also in the pro division, Frank Buenafuente (2-1) defeated Matthew Brannon (1-1) via rear naked choke in round one. Brannon started out by landing some solid strikes including a head kick, but Buenafuente was relentless in looking for the takedown and landed one as he moved to Brannon’s back. The action transitioned back to the feet with Buenafuente holding a body triangle on Brannon and still looking for a choke from Brannon’s back. Brannon tried to fight the submission off, but Buenafuente stayed calm and just re-applied the hold until finally sinking the choke in under Brannon’s chin. The fighters fell back to the mat, where Brannon tapped out.
