The 2015 Elite Canadian Championships has kicked off and several boxers performed well on the first day and advanced in the multi-day tournament that will see dozens and dozens of the top amateurs in Canada fight for a chance to compete in the upcoming Pan American Games. The only way to see this great event is to order it at GFL.tv. Order now and watch the fights beginning on October 28 and ending on November 1.

Session 5 was full of competitive fights in several weight classes in both the men’s and women’s divisions. In total there were 10 bouts in the 56kg, 64kg, and 91kg divisions.

In a 91 kg fight, Simon Kean defeated Ryan Rozicki 3-0. These fighters were throwng some heavy leather at one another and neither fighter backed down. Kean mixed up his shots well and was able to offset the aggressiveness of Rozicki by using a strong jab and overhand combos. The 1-2 combination paid dividends throughout the fight as it scored for Kean and kept him away from most of Rozicki’s haymakers.

The hardest punching of the night came in a 64 kg fight as Arthur Biyarslanov defeated Brandon Leaman via TKO in the third fight in the fight of the night. Biyarslanov and Leaman put on a clinic as they traded punches throughout the fight, but Biyarslanov caught Leaman with a hard combo that dropped him and the ref called the fight as Leaman was still feeling the effects of the punches when he tried to shake off the shots.

In other action, not to be outdone by the men, Sara Kali defeated Kelly Turner via TKO in the third in a 64kg bout. Kali is a handful in the division and her precision strikes combined with her willingness to stand and bang makes her a huge threat to win the division. Turner showed she was a gritty fighter by launching punches of her own and connected with some solid shots, but the pinpoint accuracy of Kali was too much over the course of the three rounds and it finally paid dividends when Kali scored the final blows of the fight in a great bout by both women. Kali has to be one of the favorites with her performance here.
