GFL PRESENTS “REAL FIGHTS” ON THE COMCAST NETWORK (TCN) & COMCAST SPORTSNET (CSN)
GFL PRESENTS “OHIO FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP 22” BEGINNING NOVEMBER 3
October 31, 2014
GFL, The Comcast Network and Comcast SportsNet continue their weekly combat sports series, REAL FIGHTS, with world class MMA as Ohio FC presents another show stopper with Ohio Fighting Championship 22, featuring a full lineup of blue chip fighters anchored by several top level pro fights along with a Heavyweight Championship in the amateur ranks.
In the pro ranks, Matt Anderson (1-2) fights Aaron Jeffery (0-0) in a welterweight scrap. Anderson has never gone to decision and in fact every fight he has ever been in has ended in a submission. Anderson is a fan favorite because of his high risk-high reward style. If the fight hits the mat, look for a finish as Anderson will be looking to win via tapout and in doing so, he might put himself in some bad positions. This will be Jeffery’s pro debut, after going (8-1) as an amateur. Jeffery is a solid grappler with strong takedowns so he will be looking to wear Anderson down. Jeffery is also a heavy hitter and will look to mix up his attacks. These two young pros are ready to climb the ladder of OFC so don’t blink.
In other action, Zach Cook (0-1) battles Josh Hilliard (0-1). Both fighters have their backs against the wall and in desperate need of a win as a pro after successful careers as amateurs. There is a lot on the line as the winner will move his record to .500 while the loser will drop to 0-2. Cook brings an iron chin into the fight and has shown an ability to absorb tons of punishment. Hilliard is a submission specialist and will be looking to take the fight to the mat and finish the fight there.
In the amateur ranks, for the OFC Heavyweight Championship, Chris Settles (3-1) takes on John Gardner (5-3). Settles is a huge heavyweight and is well rounded as he can finish the fight with a tapout or knockout. This will be Settles first fight for a title so expect him to come out guns blazing. Gardner has great cardio for a heavyweight and is battle tested. Gardner will need to wear Settles down and look to finish him off in the later rounds.
