Ring of Combat and Dead Serious returned to action on GFL on with another stacked amateur card from Rahway, New Jersey with “Ring of Combat AM 19 “. The action packed 11-bout card featured 4 finishes and a title fight and raised the bar on the regional amateur MMA scene as both ROC and Dead Serious are known for producing blue chip fighters.

In the main event, for the ROC Amateur Championship, Mike Guarneri (4-3) defeated Robert Wallin (4-3) via modified armbar in the second round. Guarneri and Wallin traded strikes in the first round with each fighter scoring with some solid power punches. Guarneri was the aggressor and landed multiple lead left hooks while Wallin looked to counter with straight right hands. In the second round, Guarneri scored a takedown and kept the fight on the mat as Wallin tried to get back to his feet during some terrific scrambles. Guarneri got Wallin on his back and isolated the left arm with a modified armbar. Wallin refused to tapout, but finally succumbed to the hold as Guarneri was hyperextending the arm and could have caused some serious damage if the fight went any longer. It was a solid win for Guarneri who showed a growing, all-around MMA game.
In the co-main event, Andy Segovia (4-2) defeated Dezhan Morgan (1-2) via split decision in a grueling fight. Segovia controlled the fight with his wrestling and takedowns as Morgan spent the majority of the fight on his back. Segovia grinded Morgan down over the 3 rounds, but Morgan continued to fight off of his back and turned the table a couple times with some solid ground work. But in the end, the wrestling and top control of Segovia won the day as these two battled at a fast pace for the whole fight.
Miguel Lopez (RNC), Alex Groden (armbar) and Vilen Markelov (keylock) all picked up submission wins as they isolated their opponents’ arms and got the tapout with different submissions.
