Hard hitting action returned to GFL as Dead Serious Fighting Championship, a leader in developing MMA talent, continues to expand its combat sports footprint into kickboxing with “World Class Kickboxing Championship 2” from the Rahway Rec Center in Rahway, New Jersey. The WCKC debut card was a smash hit and this event built on that momentum with a stacked card featuring the top, up and coming kickboxers from some of the best gyms in the tri-state area. The 12-bout amateur card featured 4 finishes and was highlighted by a title fight in the main event.

In the main event, for the 118lb WCKC women’s championship, Hazelle Doungui-is defeated Elizabeth Welch via split decision in a fast paced, hard-hitting bout. Doungui-is displayed a lot of great techniques as she landed solid leg kicks and mixed up her attacks by scoring with lead overhands that found their mark. Welch was a durable fighter and provided a tough test as she responded with surging combos that connected. Both women took the center of the ring and traded shots, but in the end, Doungui-is connected with the harder punches and also won the fight with her ability to exchange in the pocket and not take as much damage.

In the co-main event, Vincent Melillo defeated Chris Bartolino in another razor close split decision. These two 147 lb fighters traded shots back and forth and it came down to the final round. Melillo was the busier fighter and his volume punching is what probably gave him the nod with 2 of the 3 judges as he threw combo after combo and was the busier fighter in the ring. Bartolino showed that he had heavy hands and feet as when he connected it was full force and gave Melillo pause a few times. But Melillo regrouped and went back to his solid footwork and volume striking and it proved to be enough as he won a hard fought fight.

Greg Styles, Nick Lombardo, Jordan Smith and Joe Kelly all overwhelmed their opponents and finished their fights via KO or TKO.
Don’t miss every punch, kick, knee and elbow as these fighters showed what they were made of under the always exciting Glory rules of kickboxing.
