Arizona’s rising MMA promotion returned to GFL.tv as Crank It Up Promotions presented “Duel for Domination 10” emanating from the Arizona Event Center in Mesa, Arizona. MMA fans, this stacked card featured the top up and coming prospects inside the Grand Canyon State and around the Southwest and included multiple title fights. “Duel for Domination 10” delivered with action packed fights as 6 of the 7 bouts ended via KO or submission as all of these warriors were out to make a name for themselves not only in their home territory but to a worldwide audience on GFL. Tune in for some of the Southwest’s Best.

In the main event, in a pro 130lb catchweight fight, Casey Kenney (1-0) defeated Elijah Muhammad (0-1) via rear naked choke in the second round. Kenney was cautious of the striking of Muhammad early who scored with solid combos in the opening round. Later, Kenney scored with a huge right hand that wobbled Muhammad, but Muhammad stopped the takedown as they battled up against the cage for dominance. Kenney finally got the takedown against the cage which is what he wanted to do all fight. Kenney quickly got a choke from side mount and Muhammad tapped out quickly. It was a fast turn of events as when the fight hit the mat, Kenney was dominant and wasted no time, improving his position and getting the tapout.

In the co-main event, for the Featherweight Amateur title, Derrick Brown (9-6) defeated Jose Melendez (6-4) via decision to win the vacant strap. Both Brown and Melendez fought tough for 3 rounds and should be commended, especially as amateurs, as this fight was every bit as good as any pro fight. Brown showed a strong wrestling game and top game as he controlled Melendez on the mat several times. Melendez was active on his back though, going for leg locks and sweeps but Brown stayed heavy on top and controlled the action. Melendez countered later in the fights with high kicks and striking from a distance and while on the ground, Melendez got the upper hand as he fought from the top and had Brown on his back. In the end, the judges scored it 2 rounds to 1 for Brown as he walked away with the title in an impressive bout from both men.

In other action, Kurt Tanael, Lenny Wong, Marcus McGhee and Ramon Lopez all picked up KO or TKO wins while Israel Aquino won his fight via tapout.
