Strikezone Promotions returned to GFL.tv with “Strikers’ Cup 12”, another blockbuster show highlighting amateur Muay Thai at its best. The 8-bout card was stacked with hungry fighters looking to prove their mettle to a worldwide audience. Each fight provided plenty of action and were barnburners inside he ring.
In the main event, in for the ALL Striker Women’s Super-Featherweight Championship, Diana Zhivanaj of TSMMA defeated Kate Allen of Rami Elite via unanimous decision after four rounds. The bout was contested under Glory rules and it was nonstop action from bell to bell. Both men exchanged hard combos throughout the fight. In the later rounds, Zhivanaj used solid footwork to stay out of the way of several strikes from Allen while also firing back punches and kicks of her own that scored. Zhivanaj used an effective push kick that kept Allen at bay as Allen was a traditional Muay Thai fighter that continued to come forward looking to bang. Zhivanaj mixed up her attacks with punches to the body, hooks and kicks, and Allen responded with hard body kicks and head kicks. These women showed why they were in the main event as they were the Fight of the Night and both women delivered in the ring and fight lived up to the hype.
In the co-main event, in a Junior Heavyweight tussle, Ian Allston of Semper Fi MMA defeated Sam Rodriguez of ACMMA via unanimous decision. Allston scored with solid punches that paid dividends in the judges’ eyes. Both fighters were nonstop throughout the bout and went strike for strike the whole fight. Allston seemed to be the aggressor in most of the exchanges and was continually coming forward which probably gave him the nod in the end as both men scored with some big shots during the fight.
In other action, in a 185 lb bout, Kenny Jones of Stay Fly Muay Thai defeated Jaime Alvarez of Rami Elite via TKO in the first round. Jones used his height advantage from the opening bell, peppering Alvarez with punches before dropping him with a high kick to the head. Alvarez got back to his feet and when the fight resumed, they traded knees in the clinch before creating space and scoring with hooks, and overhand rights. Jones continued to score with knees to the midsection and then got Alvarez against the ropes and threw a flurry of punches before the ref stepped in to stop the fight. Alvarez didn’t go down, but was taking shots without responding and throwing offense of his own. Alvarez was a durable fighter, but in the end, Jones was too much on this night.
“Strikers’ Cup 12” was a smash success on GFL.tv as all the fighters came to bang. Don’t miss the blistering show on GFL.tv from Strikezone Promotions. Be sure to catch every punch and kick with this high octane event. Order now on video on demand.
