The 2015 Junior Canadian National Championships is in full swing with exciting fights, and TKOs to be had in several fights that turned into shootouts. The multi-day tournament has been a staple of Junior Canadian boxing for years and brings the whole country of Canada together to celebrate these young boxers fulfilling their dreams inside the squared circle. As the tournament gets further along, the championships are now in sight and these boxers step into the ring looking to prove that they deserve the title of Champion. The only way to see this great series or individual event is to order it at GFL.tv.
The fourth session of the series was highlighted by 11 hard fought bouts. All were highly contested as these young boxers showed off their skill and determination in the squared circle.
In the main event, the heavy hitters were on display when in the Finals of the Youth 75kg division, Jake Daoust of Ontario defeated Thomas Johnston of Saskatchewan via TKO in the second round. Daoust showed off a strong all-around game as he was able to tag Johnston with hard counters including left hooks and over hand rights, but also able to get off first with a thumping jab. Daoust was strong and didn’t let his foot off the gas the whole fight as he proved to be too much for the durable Johnston who just couldn’t find his range as he was overcome by the aggression and punching power of Daoust.
In the co-main event, Hassan Omar of Quebec defeated Daniel Ryan of Ontario in a 64kg bout via split decision. Ryan was the aggressor, continually coming forward and trying to connect. Omar did a nice job of being elusive and making Ryan miss, while responding with counter punches. Ryan continued to come forward and showed off his willingness to mix it up, but Omar showed off his defense by evading many of the punches and firing back with punches of his own in a technical match that broke down into a brawl in the final minute of the fight.
