2015 Junior Canadian Championship Day 1 Review

The 2015 Junior and Youth Canadian National Championships has kicked off and the first day was full of top notch fights where only the strong would survive and advance. As the tournament gets deeper and deeper, each fight will have more and more at stake in this grueling tournament featuring the top amateur boxers from across Canada. The championships are in sight and these boxers step into the ring looking to prove that they deserve the title of Champion. The only way to see this great event is to order it at GFL.tv.
13 bouts kicked off the first day of fights. All were highly contested as these young boxers showed off their skill and determination in the squared circle.
In the main event, Thomas Johnston of Saskatchewan defeated Emile Dery of Quebec via unanimous decision in the 75kg division. Johnston pitched a shutout as he won all 3 rounds with his combos and elusive defense making him a hard target for Dery to find.
Daniel Ryan of Ontario scored the day’s only stoppage as he defeated Abed El-Safadi via TKO in the third round. Ryan came out firing hard combos and threw punches in bunches and set a pace that El-Safadi could not keep up with. Ryan advances and has to be one of the favorites in the 64kg Youth division because of his punching power and accuracy.
In other action, Thomas Chabot of Quebec won a unanimous decision over Tevin Piper of Ontario in the 57kg Junior division.
