GFL PRESENTS “REAL FIGHTS” ON THE COMCAST NETWORK (TCN) & COMCAST SPORTSNET (CSN)
GFL PRESENTS “GPG CHRISTMAS IN THE CAGE: USA VS RUSSIA” BEGINNING JANUARY 19

January 16, 2015

GFL, The Comcast Network and Comcast SportsNet continue their weekly combat sports series, REAL FIGHTS, with world class MMA as Global Proving Ground presents another show stopper with GPG Christmas in the Cage: USA VS Russia, featuring a full lineup of extreme cage fights emanating from Pennsauken, New Jersey.

In the main event for the GPG 170lb Title, Russian rising star Khusein Khaliev (8-1) and accomplished veteran fighter Tenyeh Dixon (10-11) square off with gold on the line. Dixon is a slick fighter with solid striking combos while Khaliev is more methodical and wants to get the fight to the ground. This will be the classic striker versus grappler match and if Dixon can keep the fight on the feet and avoid the takedowns of Khaliev, this will be a long fight. If Khaliev can get the fight to the ground, this could be a quick night as Khaliev is very dangerous on the ground.

In other action, Mervin Rodriguez (6-8-1) battles Solan Abanokov (4-2) in a featherweight clash. Rodriguez is a gritty fighter who likes to break his oppoennt’s will inside the cage. Look for Rodriguez to be pushing the pace and try to grind and wear down Abanokov from the opening bell. Abanokov brings heavy hands into the cage and can end the fight with one punch. Abanokov plans to land early and often and he will need to if he is going to overcome the aggressiveness of Rodriguez.
