Hex Fight Series debuted on GFL from the Springers Leisure Centre from Victoria with “Hex Fights 1”. The action packed 9-bout card delivered with top notch fights, great finishes and an explosive card from top to bottom.
In the main event, Nick ‘Banjo’ Patterson (15-4-1) defeated Steve Orosco (7-1) via TKO in the first round. Patterson not only won the fight but gave Orosco the first loss of his career. Patterson came out quickly and closed the distance between him and Orosco. Patterson connected with punches while Orosco responded with a knee to the face that Patterson shook off. Patterson connected with an overhand right and an uppercut that wobbled Orosco and dropped him to the mat. Patterson followed up with punches on the ground as Orosco turtled up and did not try to improve his position. Patterson continued his barrage until the ref stopped the fight. It was a dominant performance for Patterson who showed his stripes by defeated a fighter in Orosco who was a durable vet.
In the co-main event, Steven Kennedy (17-6) defeated Ran Weathers (17-18) via decision in a welterweight bout. Kennedy dominated where the fight went for the whole fight as he was able to get takedowns and stayed on top of Weathers the whole fight. Kennedy showed off a strong top game and landed punches from the mount and side control. He also went for several kimuras from side control and was on the attack from the get-go. Kennedy controlled the fight and swarmed Weathers at every opportunity, not giving Weathers and opportunity to strike on his feet.
