Tuff-N-Uff returns to GFL as it presents “Future Stars of MMA January 9” from the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tuff N-Uff is one of the premier proving grounds for amateur MMA and always has stacked cards featuring the rising stars from the most famous gyms around the West. This 12-bout card will feature 3 title fights and two Invicta-related bouts where the winner will get a contract to fight in Invicta.
In the main event, for the 155 lb Invicta Contract, Felicia Spencer (5-1) defeated Jessica Eve Richer (3-1) via TKO in the second round to win the automatic contract for Invicta FC. In the opening round, Richer controlled the pace early on in a back and forth grappling bout as she was on top for half of the round. Spencer was active from the bottom the whole time though and snuck out the back door and got the mount before Richer turned the tide again and went for a RNC. Spencer got her back and Richer lost the choke hold, but remained in mount. Spencer got back to guard and as Richer postured up to score with punches, Spencer was able to connect with several hard up kicks to the face of Richer. It was a great, action packed first round from these two gladiators. In the second round, Spencer landed low kicks while Richer responded with overhand rights. Spencer then began to find her distance and connected with a pair of high kicks followed by a straight right hand that dropped Richer against the cage. Richer powered back up but Spencer landed two more pinpoint right hands. Richer fell to the canvas where Spencer continued to score with ground and pound until the ref finally stopped the fight. Both women displayed a ton of heart inside the cage and showed why they were the main event.
In the co-main event, for the Tuff-N-Uff 135 lb Championship, Joey Ruquet (7-0) defeated Corey Conway (4-0) via TKO in the second round. In the first round, Conway scored with solid leg kicks in the standup, but Ruquet quickly got the fight to the mat where he tried to score with punches as Conway tried to grab a leglock. The fight went back to the feet and both fighters traded shots. Conway ended up on the ground with Ruquet trying to score with big punched while standing as the round ended. In the second, Ruquet scored with a quick left hook and overhand right that dropped Conway. Ruquet pounced on Conway on the ground and landed several more punches to finish the fight in explosive fashion.
In other action, for the 145 lb Invicta Contract, Amber Leibrock (3-1) defeated Paola Ramirez (4-1) via unanimous decision to win not only the fight but also punches her ticket into Invicta with the victory. Leibrock used her striking advantage to score a one-sided one. Leibrock was taller and used that reach advantage to potshot Ramirez from the outside as she racked up point after point. Ramirez tried to close the distance on several occasions and get the fight to the mat, but Leibrock was able to push off the takedown attempts of Ramirez and get back to scoring with her striking. The fight went to the ground in the second, but even from the bottom, Leibrock was going for an armbar and staying the aggressor. Leibrock was the aggressor and combined with her pinpoint accuracy, she won the fight.
