GPG 18 Preview
ORDER EVENT – http://www.gfl.tv/event/Fight/MMA/GPG-18-Victorium-4/2756
Hard hitting MMA action returns on February 21 as GPG present “Global Proving Ground 18” from the GPG Event Center in Pennsauken, New Jersey on the GFL Combat Sports Network. GPG has quickly established itself as a rising combat sports promotion on the East Coast and this event further cemented their credibility within the region.
In a heavyweight tussle, Bellator vet Keith Bell (6-5-1) battles Joe Stripling (8-7). Bell has 2 wins via KO in under 30 second to his credit and has fought for most of the top MMA orgs on the East Coast. Only one of Bell’s fights have ever gone to decision and he always looking for the KO highlight reel finish. That makes Bell an unpredictable fighter as his high risk-high reward style of fighting is hard to game plan for. Expect fireworks from these two gladiators as odds are someone is going down hard. Stripling has fought for titles in the past and is on a collision course with Bell in this fight. Stripling formerly fought for the CFFC Heavyweight Title in 2013 and 2014 and is looking to get back into the mix. 7 of Stripling’s 8 wins have come via stoppage and he is just as dangerous on the ground with submissions as he is slugging it out.
Louis Johnson (3-2) fights Dwayne Holman (2-3). Johnson’s wins have all come via stoppage and he looks to go 4 for 4 in that department. Taylor is a durable fighter who can take a punch. Taylor is looking to make a statement and get some attention with this performance so don’t blink. Holman is the type of fighter who throws caution to the wind and likes to mix it up anywhere at any time. Always a fan favorite for his style of fighting, he will have to be disciplined in this bout and take the opening when it presents itself.
Shedrick Goodridge (6-8) battles Lamont Lister (6-12). Goodridge’s best weapon is his cardio as he likes to grind down his opponents and wait for them to mentally or physically break during the fight. Goodridge also has underrated grappling and loves to attack the neck either with guillotines or rear naked chokes. Lister is looking to end this fight in a hurry and prove that he deserves to be looked at among the elite fighters who are not yet signed to an international organization. Lister has heavy hands and several KOs to his credit. Along with the one-punch power he possesses, Wing is also very accurate and doesn’t waste a lot of energy as he has a high connect rate. Both fighters have something to prove in this bout and the winner will climb up the ladder quickly in GPG.
East Coast MMA is ready to deliver again! Be sure to catch all of the action live on February 21 or any time after on VOD as GPG presents “Global Proving Ground 18” exclusively at GFL.tv.
