Rage in the Cage returned to GFL.tv with “RITC 175” as the top fighters from around Arizona and the surrounding states went to battle in Arizona’s premier MMA organization at the Prescott Valley Event Center in Prescott, Arizona. RITC has been a proving ground for the Southwest’s top fighters for years and years and now the world will get to see the Grand Canyon State’s next crop of champions. RITC is always stacked with several exciting fights and this event was no different.
In the main event, in a featherweight bout, Ray Robinson (8-11) defeated Danny Hilton (3-3) via armbar in the first round. Both fighters were trading punches and leg kicks early on, with Hilton using his height advantage to score from a distance, while Robinson would connect with lead left hooks. Robinson caught a leg kick from Hilton and took the fight to the mat where he landed with punches from the guard of Hilton. Hilton used his close guard effectively as he went for a triangle then transitioned to getting back to his feet where he connected with a huge knee to the face of Robinson that dropped Robinson. Hilton looked to follow up with punches, but Robinson was able to recover and snatch one of Hilton’s arms and sunk in a deep armbar for the finish. It was a whirlwind fight with both fighters having their opportunities to finish the fight, and Robinson, the seasoned vet, did just that as he regrouped after being hurt and pulled off the submission finish from his back.
In the co-main event, Joe Gigliotti (4-0) defeated Robert Wilbanks (1-1) via rear naked choke in the first round. Gigliotti normally fights at welterweight and with Wilbanks being a late replacement, who fights at heavyweight, both fighters showed a lot of heart in taking the fight in the first place. Gigliotti was cautious of the punching power of Wilbanks early and used his speed and quickness advantage to get a double leg takedown. Wilbanks fought his way back to his feet but Gigliotti once again got a double leg takedown. Gigliotti got side control then landed a few elbows to the body of Wilbanks before taking the back of Wilbanks. Gigliotti quickly transitioned to the mount where he landed a few elbows and as Wilbanks turned to his side, Gigliotti locked in the side choke and got the tapout.
For the RITC Amateur Lightweight bout, Anthony Wray (3-1) Dante Patrick (9-2) defeated in the second round via triangle choke. In the first round, Patrick used solid wrestling and had some nice throws that put Wray on the mat. On the ground Patrick controlled the fight and landed punches from a variety of spots. In round two, Wray had his best exchanges as he found his distance and landed some nice combos that Patrick just ate. Patrick went back to his bread and butter and got another takedown and ended up in the guard of Wray. Wray worked a solid guard game and locked on a very tight triangle choke and got the tapout victory. Patrick was hurt from the punches in the standup prior to the ground exchange and Wray showed off a great game from his back, using his long legs to force himself into position for the fight ending triangle.
