Rage in the Cage returned to GFL.tv with “RITC 176” as the top fighters from around Arizona and the surrounding states went to battle in Arizona’s premier MMA organization at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona. RITC has been a proving ground for the Southwest’s top fighters for years and years and now the world gets to witness the Grand Canyon State’s next crop of champions. RITC is always stacked with several quality matchups and highlight reel finishes and this event was no different.

In the main event, for the vacant RITC Lightweight Title, Drakkar Klose (3-0) defeated Preston Harris (2-3) to win the championship via unanimous decision. Harris had a height and reach advantage and tried to utilize that early with his punching, but Klose closed the distance and got the clinch. The fight went to the mat with Harris looking for a kneebar while Klose connected with several hard elbows to the thigh of Harris. The fight went back to the feet, with Klose pushing Harris against the cage and connecting with solid elbows from close range. In round two, it was more clinch work early with Klose getting the better of the exchanges. Harris found his rhythm with push kicks and his jab as he was able to keep Klose at a distance. Klose closed the distance once again and put Harris up against the fence where the two traded strikes with Klose scoring from inside. In the third and final round, Klose again turned it into a clinch game as he tied Harris up and landed short shots during the exchanges while also taking away the best weapons of Harris which were his kicks. The fight ended with both men up against the cage and Klose pressing the action and winning the clinch game and the title.

In the co-main event, in the 140lb division, Champion David Nuzzo (3-1) defeated Dock Phelps (1-3) via TKO in the first round. Nuzzo connected with a stiff jab, but then kicked Phelps below the belt as time was stopped for Phelps to recover. When action resumed, Phelps connected with some hard hooks while Nuzzo threw punched down the pipe. Nuzzo landed an overhand right that caught Phelps on the jaw and sent him to the canvas. Nuzzo followed up with punches on the ground as the ref stepped in to call a stop to the fight. Both fighters came out ready to bang and they did just that. Nuzzo connected with the harder punch that led to the end of the fight, but Phelps scored with some heavy punches too in a real shootout.

In a middleweight bout, Raylen Davis (2-1) defeated Billy Colon (7-6) via TKO in the first round. Both men came out with their guns blazing and fired off shots at one another before they tied up in the clinch with Colon’s back against the cage. After throwing several uppercuts by Davis, Colon connected with a hook and the two briefly separated before Davis landed a punch on the temple of Colon that knocked him down to the canvas. From there, Davis followed up with a series of punches on the ground and finished the fight in impressive fashion.
