Driller Promotions and Minnesota MMA News are teaming up like never before, presenting A-Town Throwdown VIII at the Austin Holiday Inn Conference Center this Saturday night.

On paper, it’s the best A-Town Throwdown to date. The mega card features a Driller Promotions record five title fights, three female bouts, a four-man heavyweight Grand Prix for the Driller heavyweight title and 20 total fights, in addition to a main event that pits Bellator and RFA veteran Andre “The Diva” Tieva against WEC veteran Chris “MaDDoG” Mickle.

Tickets for the show are selling quickly, and the event is expected to sell out (capacity is only 1,000 in the Conference Center). A few tickets remain available through cagetix.com, at the Holiday Inn front desk and through participating fighters. Fights will start at 6 p.m. sharp Saturday, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

The following Driller amateur titles are on the line Saturday — 125 pounds, 135, 155, 205 and heavyweight.

Unbeaten Iowa prospect Kai Brunk will take on unbeaten Minnesota Martial Arts Academy product Sean Stebbins for the vacant 125 title.

Sean Strube is putting his 135 strap on the line against Wisconsin standout Jesse Fisher, and the vacant 155 title is up for grabs between red-hot Juan Hernandez and Mankato product Dalton Albrent.

Current light heavyweight champion Ryot Waller of Illinois is putting his belt on the line against hometown favorite Thomas Herrera.

The heavyweight champion will be determined by a one-night, four-man Grand Prix. Three of the four participants are ranked in Minnesota, and the fourth is a former wrestling standout from Wisconsin. In the opening round, John Loeken faces Aaron Williams and Joe Carreon meets Calyn Hull of Wisconsin. Loeken is ranked No. 6 in Minnesota, while Carreon (No. 8) and Williams (No. 10) are both unbeaten prospects.

A full event preview will appear on Minnesota MMA News later this week.
