One of Ohio’s top featherweights will travel east this weekend, as Frank Caraballo (14-8) is set to take on Alexandre ‘Popo’ Bezerra (17-4) in one of two main events at Xtreme Caged Combat 24.

Both fighters are Bellator veterans, and the bout will be a semifinal in a four-man tournament for the XCC featherweight title. The other semifinal will feature World Series of Fighting veterans Artur Rofi (6-1) and Francisco Isata (7-2). The winner could be a favorite to earn a spot in the UFC with two major wins on his record.

Caraballo, who hails from Cleveland, has long been one of the best prospects in the Buckeye State. “The Tank” went on a six-fight win streak in 2011-2012 that put him on the doorstep of the Octagon. But he has gone just 3-4 since, including a loss in his most recent bout to Keith Richardson at RFO: Big Guns 16 last August. Still, he has a chance to get back on the national radar with a big win here.

Bezerra posted a 7-2 record under the Bellator banner and won the CFFC title in 2014, but he hasn’t competed since losing the title in a rematch against current UFC featherweight Levan Makashvili in December 2014.

Rofi hails from New Jersey and competes for the first time since his lone career defeat in 2013. Isata is out of Maryland and has won five fights in a row
