First fight card ever in the city of Riverside headlined by IBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Title match,  James Toney to be calling the action ringside

MEZ SPORTS brings its Pandemonium hybrid fight series to the Riverside Convention Center, for the first fight card ever in the city of Riverside on Saturday, September 11, 2010 when “Mount” Lance Whitaker  35-6-2, 28 KO’s meets Franklin “Yah-Yah” Lawrence 12-2-2, 7 KO’s in a 12 round bout for the vacant IBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Title.  This fight replaces the original main event where Javier Mora was going to face Damian Wills for the IBO belt, however last week Mora was deemed unable to fight due to unexpected medical reasons and Wills declined to fight Whitaker as a replacement fighter.  Both Whitaker and Lawrence eagerly stepped in to the main event.  Both fighters boldly state that they will win the title and cannot wait to defend it on the next MEZ Sports Pandemonium fight card.  The IBO Intercontinental Heavyweight belt holds special significance to both fighters, who both have held regional and smaller belts in the past.  The IBO Intercontinental titlist gets an automatic top 15 world ranking in the IBO and if he is able to make three successful defenses of the title, he is a mandatory challenger for the IBO World Heavyweight title, currently held by Wladamir Klitschko, who is also defending his title on September 11 in Germany against Samuel Peter.  September 11, 2010 looms large for the future of the heavyweight division.  Both Whitaker and Lawrence, while not looking past each other, are calling out all challengers to the belt and are willing to take on any contender.  They both know that this title is the fast track to the world belt.  Opportunities like this don’t come around often and neither fighter plans to waste this golden opportunity.

Whitaker, who is coming off a split decision win at Pandemonium I over heralded Russian heavyweight contender Andrey Fedosov, turned down bigger money fights to take this one.  “We simply couldn’t turn this title opportunity and the chance to show the new Lance Whitaker to the boxing world”, boasts Whitaker’s manager, Allen Cox.  “We know we have found a home with MEZ Sports and after Lance wins the title, we are gunning for Wladimir Klitschko.  There is no doubt that Lance (Whitaker) is the next American Heavyweight champion.”

On the MMA side of the fight card, two local Inland Empire fighters meet to be crowned the inaugural MEZ Sports Pandemonium Featherweight title as Corey “Savage” Grant  (4-1-1) take on Roberto Vargas (8-1).  For Team Quest’s Grant, who last fought for MEZ Sports in April 2010, when he gained a unanimous decision over Aaron MIller and Millennia MMA’s Vargas, who is making is MEZ Sports promotional debut, winning the title puts them on the radar for the major promotions.

Also on the card, in a featherweight fight is Riverside Sports Academy’s Richard Schiller     (6-1-1) is taking on Yahir Reyes (14-6) in a 145lb MMA fight.  Reyes, who is best known for his spinning back fist knockout victory over Estevan Payan in Bellator.  Both fighters are hungry for a win as it will make the number one contender for the MEZ Sports Pandemonium title.

Schiller’s stablemate, Saad Awad (8-3) meets Coachella Valley’s Jorge Valdez (5-0) in 155lb action.  Awad, who fought Diego Garijo at Bellator, is known for his stand up prowess is meeting jujitsu practitioner Valdez, who showed surprising new power in fighting Todd Willingham at MEZ Sports’ Smackdown at the Shrine in April.  Awad promises to bring the action in front of his hometown crowd.

Riverside Submission’s Lorenz Larkin (6-0), who had a highlight reel knockout of Scott Carson at Pandemonium I is back in 205lb action against Rick Slaton (4-1).  Larkin, who is known for his pink fighting gloves and big knockout powers takes on Slaton who’s only loss is against Shane Carwin.  Slaton says that Carwin called him his toughest opponent and that the only way he like to fight is to “stand and bang”.  This fight has Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night written all over it.

Southern California, particularly the Inland Empire is well represented on the boxing portion of the show as Bantamweight  and former WBC Youth Intercontinental Champion Anthony Villareal (9-3, 4KO’s) face journeyman Benji Garcia (14-16-3, 1KO) in 6 round action.  This is Villareal’s first time in front of the hometown crowd and he is looking to make a great first impression as he works his way back into title contention.  Garcia, who is on a four fight losing streak is looking to bring himself back to a winning record. This promises to be an entertaining fight.

Los Angeles’ Arron Robinson (5-2-2, 3KO’s) meets the always tough David Lopez (3-2-2) in a 6 round junior middleweight bout.  Robinson hopes to impress the crowd enough to come back for more fights with MEZ Sports.

Local fan favorite Alex Luna (2-0, 2KO’s) meets Ramon Flores (3-7-1, 3KO’s) in a 4 round lightweight fight. At Pandemonium I, Luna scored a spectacular second round knockout wanting the fans to see him again.  Luna promises to bring his exciting style of fighting to Riverside.

The most intriguing fight of the card matches two heavyweights when Helaman  Olguin (0-1) meets Tony Sanchez (0-2) in a four round heavyweight matchup.  Sanchez is the principal at Moreno Valley Middle School during the day and a part-time boxer at night. Sanchez brings a huge crowd with him to each fight and they are hoping that he gains his first win on Sept. 11.

TIckets are $65, $45, $35, $25 and are available by calling 888-222-3183 or at the door.  The Riverside Convention Center is located at 3443 Orange Avenue in Riverside, CA.  The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first fight is set for 7:30 p.m.  There are 10 fights scheduled for the nigh, 5 MMA and 5 boxing.  The fight card is subject to change without notice and the show is sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission.

Pandemonium II is also bring broadcast via online PPV at www.gofightlive.tv for $9.99.  The show will be blacked-out in the Southern California area. Doing color commentary for the fight will be boxing legend and recent MMA fighter James “Lights Out” Toney.

On Saturday May 1, Southeastern MMA’s Ultimate Proving Ground converges on McDonough, Georgia at Gateway Event Center, and with it comes all the action, attitude, and production that separates SportFight X from its competition, or lack thereof. Project 9-6-1 and Iron Clutch Fitness present an adrenaline-filled night featuring ten mixed martial arts bouts scheduled for the evening, including two ISKA title fights, and a female MMA matchup. All fights will be held in SportFight X’s extreme fight cage.

At this event, LGIO will kick off the first round of its 170-pound west tourney. Also, in addition to the $25,000 prize money awarded to both the Canadian 155-pound and 170-pound LGIO tournament winners, StrikeForce will award both champions fight contracts in its Challenger Series.

Ring of Combat – Friday

Action on Friday night’s Ring of Combat XXIX did not disappoint fans.  It started hot and heavy and continued till the end.  The event started off with Ryan Vacco dominating his opponent, landing a takedown, securing mount and rain down shots until Justin Greskiewicz left an opening for Vacco to take his arm and win the fight via armbar.  With the victory, Vacco stays undefeated at 3-0 and sets the stage for a night of punishment.  Nick Pace vs Jose Adrino would have won crowd-pleasing fight of the night, if that was an award. People may remember Nick Pace from Bellator’s KO of the year in a flying knee KO of his opponent.  Pace didn’t disappoint fans in this fight, as he landed what can only be described as a piledriver on Adriano.  With a deep choke submission, to a tap out submission in the co-main event, the night ended with Demetrius Richards saying, “I’ll tell you what, I’ve never been hit that hard in my life.”  Was Richards victorious in his ROC Light Heavyweight title fight against champion Gian VIllante…… there was a “TKO due to possible broken arm” and to see all the action and find out who came out on top, visit www.GoFightLive.tv and see all the action for yourself!

Wild Bill’s Fight Night 26 – Saturday

Deluth, Georgia played home toWild Bill’s Fight Night 26and the theme of the night was “come from behind”, as several fighters survived tough first rounds only to pull out victories later on.  The event saw early KOs and heavy handed fighters testing their opponents.  From blood to battle, suplexes to submissions, Wild Bills Fight Night 26 had it all.  Visit www.GoFightLive.tv to see what you missed in Georgia.

Asylum Fight League 28 – Saturday

Philadelphia’s The Arena played host toAsylum Fight League 28on Saturday night.  Deric Sonnenblick, in his debut, pulled off a slick ankle-lock submission over his opponent.  This fight seem to set the tone for the event as submission victories were plentiful, even in the 2 title fights Asylum had for it’s fans.  With an arm triangle, triangle choke and event a guillotine submission, the action was fast in Philly.  Find out if Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez stayed perfect at 5-0 with the belt, or if James Seipel pulled out the victory and became Asylum Fight League’s newest title holder.  Check out GoFightLive.tv for the full fight videos and see for yourself.
